October 26, 2009
CLARK FREEPORT, October 26 (PNA) – Spirit of Manila Airlines acquired an additional McDonnell Douglas (Boeing) MD-83 aircraft at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA).
A simple blessing ceremony of the aircraft followed the delivery on October 24 marking the carrier’s fleet expansion.
This is the second delivery of MD-83 in less than 3 months, the first of which was delivered last August 1.
Both aircraft will be used to service frequencies to Taiwan, Macau, and other regional destinations from the carrier’s hub in Clark.
Spirit of Manila Airlines Chairman Basilio P. Reyes said the on-time delivery marks a great leap forward in building the airlines network, as it starts to commercially fly beginning December 2009.
Reyes added, “The additional aircraft will allow passengers to choose more convenient flight times.”
The country’s newest international airline is also readying to operate regular flights to Bahrain, Dubai and Kuwait upon arrival of its additional jets.
